The Council for Global Education's Framework for Education is based partly on the proven methods that have been successfully implemented in the world renowned City Montessori School (CMS) in Lucknow, India, the world's largest school in a city with over 27,000 students in the session 2003-04.

The performance record of this remarkable school speaks for itself:

  • 99% of students place in the first division of state and national exams

  • Students have received the highest number of merit-based scholarships in India

  • In 1997, a CMS student was awarded 3 medals in robotics at a science fair in Canada. In 1996, another student won the gold medal at a similar competition in Los Alamos, New Mexico

  • In 1998, the school took top prize in an all-India music competition

  • 133 of the school's 153 candidates passed in the first division, 61 of them with honors marks

  • 22 CMS students won the National Talent Search Scholarship in 1997

  • In 2002, the school was awared the UNESCO Prince for Peace Education

A recent survey of CMS students revealed the following:

  • 70% want to acquire good habits and become good human beings

  • 35% want to become moral and spiritual

  • 71% want to become rich and famous BUT to serve others and the poor

  • 84% want to excel and compete well

  • 133 of the school's 153 candidates passed in the first division, 61 of them with honors marks

  • 22 CMS students won the National Talent Search Scholarship in 1997

In fact, one student remarked in her survey that "CMS makes us glow in this morally dark world. My goal in life is to become a good citizen of this world."

Another student said that "CMS seeks to broaden our outlook. It makes us think in terms of global family and thus remove narrow thinking from our minds."

CGE believes that these statements are possible in any school environment that has successfully implemented values similar to the CMS model of education.
