GEMS Baseline Surveys

These surveys are an essential part of establishing a GEMS program at your school or institution. Such surveys should be undertaken before major efforts are undertaken to set up a GEMS program. It is important to know where the educators, parents, and students stand with respect to the fundamental building blocks of a GEMS program. You will not get the most deepened views at this stage. However, you will notice a tremendous shift in views when the same survey is conducted a year or two from the beginning of the process. Undertaking the survey at the beginning of the process, before views are influenced, is the best way to create a baseline for your efforts. By creating a baseline, you will notice that the views will take a leap and so will the impact of your GEMS program. Such a survey has dual purposes: it serves to strengthen and unify the vision across the school community, it also serves to empower and strengthen the resolve to continue to deepen ones understanding.
