Dignity Education Vision International (DEVI)
Dignity Education Vision International (DEVI) is a development NGO in Lucknow, India. Started in February 1992, DEVI was set up as an experiment in socio-economic development, to understand through application the Bahá'í principles of development. In its 7th year, the experiment has grown to a full-fledged integrated rural and urban development program that encompasses 74 villages in Lucknow district and in Amethi. The areas of its work range from income generating and training programs, to schools, literacy centers, libraries, maternity and primary health care programs to programs focussed on women. Emphasis is on self-help development, education and dignity. It's work has support of several foundations, including the well-known Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and it is getting a wonderful reputation in the State of its birth (Uttar Pradesh) as an honest and performing NGO. Collaboration exists with Health for Humanity, USA who can provide more information. We welcome ideas, research findings on projects elsewhere, and long term support. Please contact Sunita Gandhi.
